What can I expect on my first visit?

On your first visit, you will walk into a clean office and a warm, friendly staff. You will be seeing our excellent hygienist for your X- rays, and dental cleaning along with our Doctor, who will do a full mouth evaluation. Our treatment Coordinator will sit with you to go through your treatment plan, questions, and to make your next appointment.

Why do I need X-rays?

X-rays are essential to the diagnosis of not just cavities but other serious health conditions, such as bone infections and tumors. X-rays show something important about your dental health that we can't often see just with the eyes, like small cavities between the teeth. If we catch the cavities early, we will keep down your dental cost as well as protect your health. Inspectors from Radiation safety regularly monitor our x-ray equipment to ensure that it is safe and effective.

How often do I need X-rays done?

The frequency of getting X-rays of your teeth often depends on your medical and dental history and current condition. Some people may need X-rays as often as every six months; others with no recent dental or gum disease, who visit the dentist regularly may get X-rays once a year as there are many changes in our mouth due to its constant use. Why do some people need to get their cleanings done every three months and others every six months?

Everyone requires a different kind of professional cleaning based on their mouth condition. 3 Month Periodontal Maintenance Appointment will be determined by the hygienist and the dentist to manage your oral health. Gum disease starts when plaque attaches to your teeth near and below the gumline. The bacteria present produce toxins that cause gums to become red, swollen, and bleed easily, destroying gum tissue and the supporting bone. The number of bacteria doubles every time they reproduce, reaching harmful levels every 90 days. To keep it controlled, we recommend 3-month maintenance. Not as an option – but a requirement for successful therapy. 6 Month professional cleaning Appointment is adequate in maintaining good oral health, and as a preventive method to prevent decay and gum disease. It allows the Hygienist to properly remove plaque from your teeth that your toothbrush and floss are unable to get.

How Can I tell I Have Gum Disease?

  • Do you notice any bleeding during flossing?
  • Do you experience bad breath?
  • Do you smoke or chew tobacco?
  • Did your hygienist mention any bleeding or inflammation at your last dental cleaning?
  • Are you skipping more than 3-4 days of flossing a week?
If you answered YES, make an appointment to talk our hygienist about your gum health.

Why do I need a filling on my tooth, if nothing hurts?

Decay doesn't cause pain until it reaches the pulp or nerve. If we catch decay early, you can avoid pain and possible root canal treatment. In fact, by the time a decayed tooth hurts, it's usually too late to save the tooth with a filling.

Why do I need to replace a missing tooth?

The loss of a tooth can cause your bone to dry out, fascial muscles to drop, other teeth to shift resulting in changes of your bite, damaging healthy teeth. Unreplaced teeth will cause your face to change dramatically over time.
